A while back, someone shared with me how hard it was to access a compassionate, kind, and caring inner voice. They explained that affirmations didn’t feel real when spoken in their own voice. Together, we worked to create an alternative—a soft, kind, and trustworthy voice they could tune into when they needed it most.
Later, they told me that the voice they imagined was actually my voice. That conversation stayed with me and sparked an idea: a video series called What I Wish You Knew: Voice Notes from “Your” Therapist.
Now, I know I’m probably not your therapist. But maybe you’re someone who could use a gentle reminder that you’re doing your best. Or perhaps it would help to hear someone break down therapy concepts in a way that feels approachable and human.
This series will expand on topics I’ve written about before, things I know matter to so many of us. Because sometimes, reading isn’t what we need. Sometimes, it’s hearing an encouraging voice.
This is for you.
Today’s note: What I Wish You Knew: It’s Okay to Ask for Help.
Sometimes, asking for help means reaching out to someone at work. Other times, it might be leaning on a friend or even a community online. And yes, sometimes it’s turning to your therapist.
But here’s the thing: you don’t have to put all the pressure on one person to meet your needs. It’s okay to spread it out a little bit.
I wish you knew that it’s okay to ask for help. That it’s okay if you don’t have all the answers right now. If you’re not sure what need you’re trying to get met, it’s okay to explore that too.
And above all, I hope you know: you’re doing a good job.

Helper Spot Available: Costa Rica Retreat, March 24-29, 2025
We’re offering one helper spot for our upcoming retreat! This person will assist with organizing airport transportation, coordinating excursions, and capturing photos and videos during the retreat (because I’m notorious for forgetting). In exchange, you’ll receive the retreat at a significantly reduced rate.
